Oaklands Armed Forces Group (OAFG)

  • Service Children often face challenges that go beyond the experience of families and children living in the UK
  • A combination of the deployment of a family member, and regular home and school moves can cause anxiety and stress
  • Education is disturbed and social networks disrupted
  • General lack of awareness of Service children’s needs

We will offer:

  • A single point of contact for service children and families
  • Regular meet-ups
  • Pastoral support
  • Family summer event – Afternoon tea on the Sunken Lawn – made by the service children
  • Trips and visits
  • A quiet space during the school day so a service child can communicate with absent parent/carer when deployed

‘At Oaklands we understand how vitally important it is to support our service children, to help them gain the resilience required to cope with life as a service child. Our aim from September is to provide all service children with a friendly support system and a single point of contact for parents/carers’
