We are always keen to encourage our students to engage in parish events. Last year, Sacred Heart and St Peters announced they intended to organise a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. Although the school did not organise the event, we decided to promote it to students and staff. 5 Students and 3 staff decided to go.

“Medjugorje, a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been a Catholic pilgrimage site since 1981 when six locals claimed to see apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Known as “Our Lady of Medjugorje,” these apparitions conveyed messages of peace, prayer, and conversion.

Catholics visit Medjugorje seeking personal renewal, healing, and spiritual deepening – many experience transformation through confession, prayer, and community with fellow pilgrims.

During the pilgrimage, we took part in confession and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and had the opportunity to lead the congregation of Saint James Church in readings and Music for the Mass. The Holy Spirit is alive in Medjugorje, and Our Lady is truly present, encouraging us to come back to her Son, Jesus and spread peace, peace, peace.
