At the end of the Computer Science Curriculum, we hope that students will leave Oaklands enriched in the following manner:

  • Have a passion for the principles and ingenuity of Computer Science and appreciate the construction of sophisticated systems from component building blocks
  • Enjoy the programming and developing of solutions
  • Appreciate the scope of Computer Science that impacts all areas of society and recognise the potential for ‘making a difference’ through Computing
  • Evalaute the impact of Computer science on the values and virtues the school holds
  • To possess a resilient attitude to problem solving that increases their robustness to respond to unexpected issues in a calm and confident way
  • To be able to apply the principles of Computational Thinking as a methodology for problem solving through applying the skills of Abstraction, Decomposition, Pattern recognition and Algorithm design to both computing and non-computing challenges

In addition to this, the success of the Computer Science Curriculum can be seen in the examination outcomes for students of all abilities. Success is also evident in the number of students who proceed to study Computing related courses at University.
