Impact

At the end of the Media and Film Studies curriculum, it is the intention that students will leave Oaklands with the following traits and experiences:

  • An appreciation for the construction of media and film texts
  • An understanding of how audiences are impacted by the media and the impact of all media forms on society at large
  • Respect and tolerance for all people and a willingness to listen to alternative points of view
  • Independence and resilience in the approach to all tasks
  • A desire to make a difference to the local community and wider issues in the world as a consequence of textual study
  • Confidence and clarity in discussion and public speaking

Additionally, many Media and Film Studies students have gone on to further study at university and secured employment within various industries, including The BBC, The BFI and Express FM radio.
