Impact

At the end of the PDC Education curriculum, we hope that students will leave Oaklands enriched in the following manner:

  • Attained appropriate knowledge and understanding to help them make informed lifestyle choices.
  • Get involved in wider issues and organisations and have an increased awareness of the need for involvement and action in the community.
  • Be able to protect themselves and others in potentially dangerous or difficult situations.
  • Be discerning when making decisions and aware that they should live life to its fullest and in the safest, healthiest way possible.
  • Students will know where to go to get help or further information if it is required.
  • Be more empathetic and accepting towards others who may not share the same opinion or worldview as them.
  • Be able to express and articulate their ideas in a respectful manner.

The impact of the Personal Development programme is tracked alongside the outcomes from student Study Programmes.

All destinations are tracked and recorded so that future students can learn from previous students’ experience with both employment and university through the information, advice and guidance they receive on the Study Programme.  The destinations document is shared with all KS5 teachers in early September so that we can see what our previous classes have moved on to do.  Student and parents’ consultations through questionnaires enable the Sixth Form team to reflect upon feedback given so that we know of areas upon which to improve.

Students at Oaklands Sixth Form develop close bonds with their teachers and tutors.  They often stay in touch and come back to visit us.
