As a result of the fluidity of Easter, Ash Wednesday often falls in the half term break. However, this year it fell on the first Wednesday back. All the Oaklands community took part in our Ash Wednesday service. The services were a poignant reminder that we should use the time over the next few weeks to prepare our hearts to celebrate the season of Easter. I also had the privilege of going to celebrate with the Students at Corpus Christi Primary School in North End.
During half term break over one hundred students went on the school ski trip. This is the first trip since before the pandemic. I have spoken to many students who talked about the wonderful experience they had. My thanks to Mr Bamford for organising it and all the other supporting staff.
This week rehearsals have continued for our annual school show, the School Of Rock. The story follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who is down on his luck. He turns to working in a school transforming a class of straight-A students into a rock band. There is also a hint of romance between Finn and the Head of the school. The show runs from the 8th to the 10th February inclusive. Tickets can be purchased by following this link. Good luck to all the cast and crew.
