November is a special month in school
The Catholic Church designates November as a special month, to pray for and remember those who have died. The month begins with the feast of All Saints and the feast of the Holy Souls. If All saints falls on a school day we either celebrate Mass in school or student visit Sacred Heart and St Peter. Across the month we hold a number of event and our prayer focus on remembering those who have been called home.
During November we also mark remembrance day Oaklands joins the nation at 11.00am with our act of remembrance.
For a number of year Jude Stanley, currently in Year 13 has agreed to play the Last Post at the start of the school’s one minute silence, which set the tone perfectly. Our Act of Remembrance is always well received by students staff and visitors. Students are provided with an opportunity to pray in silence.
