Sixth Form Love and Service
As part its ‘Love and Service’ campaign the Sixth Form has been busy developing its wider community engagement and charitable work. Most recently this has included the introduction of a series of Sixth Form visits to residential care homes and hospices in the local area. This begin in earnest on 20.03.24 when 10 of our sixth formers volunteered to visit and have tea with residents in the Oaklands Care Home opposite the school. This was followed by an extended visit by another 15 of our sixth formers to the Portsdown View Care Home in Havant. It was a beautiful occasion and the meeting of the different generations was a special thing to behold. The residents were so grateful to have the opportunity to spend time chatting and playing games with our wonderful students. We have been asked by these care homes to explore the possibility of making this a regular fixture next year and our students have been offered the possibility of work experience and as well as accredited dementia training. Also, on the 10.07.24 the Sixth Form will be hosting 20 or so residents from these care homes to join us for a tea and cake afternoon where they will be served by sixth formers – we may even have them provide a band! We are very proud of all those students’ volunteers who have taken part as they have displayed the grace and kindness which truly embodies what we are a Catholic community united by the Cross.
